On the gloomy and seemingly quiet Sunday that closes November 2003 for good, there is an event that warms the souls of the many people who have come to the Transilvania Live in Milan to see two of the most promising bands on the Italian gothic scene.
I am talking about Milan's Bloody Mary (whom we at Hardsounds.it already had the pleasure of admiring at our festival of the same name in October) and Rome's My Sixth Shadow (…).
At about 22:20 the stage curtains open and the show can begin. An electrifying, energetic show, opened by Bloody Mary, who have no rivals when it comes to stage presence. The undisputed protagonist is frontman Aldebran, who appears, as usual, with an aggressive and provocative look that immediately catches the attention of the audience, who draw closer to the band, curious. The songs that open the concert are the same as on their latest, "Rosemadder", and they succeed in warming up the audience. The negative note comes from some technical problems that keep the singer from giving his best, and unfortunately "Icy Blue" and "It's Too Late" are not performed as well as on the record.
After the immediate and much-awaited change of microphone it is a whole different story, and the band turns out a truly excellent performance. Once the singer has regained confidence and command of his voice, the others let loose too and play every song in the setlist at their best, involving an audience ready to sing along with great enthusiasm. A good showing by these five guys who, despite the troubled start, undoubtedly leave an excellent impression on everyone present.
