From Milan, this time, come the gothic rockers Bloody Mary, authors of this demo titled Rosemadder, a four-track work very well looked after in terms of recording and production. The songs Bloody Mary offer recall rather closely the style that has put bands of this recent period in the spotlight (HIM and 69 Eyes above all), playing on catchy, simple and linear melodies that seem designed to imprint themselves on the listener's mind from the very first moment. This does not mean, however, that our Bloody Mary are yet another gang of pretty boys created at a desk with the intent of seducing some fifteen-year-old infatuated with Marilyn Manson; on the contrary, to the extreme accessibility of the songs our boys combine highly respectable technical skills and a personal, convincing style. Examples are the opening Icy Blue, a catchy song but one with excellent load-bearing riffs and an always punctual and precise rhythm section, or again Learning To Fy, much more than a goth-party semi-ballad thanks to the depth created by the guitar and the somewhat Peter Steele-like vocal style of the talented singer, to whom I would only suggest paying a little more attention to his English pronunciation. And what about Before The Rain, which even features psychedelic inlays? In short, Bloody Mary are the perfect example that the commercial can often marry class. Very well done, guys!
