After its birth in spring 2000, the rock gothic band BLOODY MARY began writing its first songs and playing concerts in and around Milan. In December they finally went into the studio for the first time and recorded their first album, titled "RED". With this release the five-piece earned a good reputation on the Italian underground scene and also obtained several good reviews in various international magazines.
Spurred on by these first successes, at the beginning of 2003 the band barricaded itself in the studio again to self-produce this 6-track CD, some of whose songs decidedly follow their models, such as The Cure or H.I.M.
The Italians are far from the abilities of their phenomenal models and there is nothing here that could really move the world, but some good ideas in their songs cannot be denied. The guitars sound harmonious, and the voice too carries the right, beautiful suffering, even if at times with some exaggerated electronic effects. Moreover, Bloody Mary's music suffers a great deal from a markedly light sound which, with a richer production, would certainly have gained in power.
