Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, the long wait is over. The charismatic Bloody Mary are back, and they have done it in grand style, releasing a great record by the name of 'Party Music For Graveyards', a real time bomb ready to explode and scatter its spores around. Staying true to its origins and not changing its sound one bit, the Milan combo offers a blend of gothic rock and eighties new wave; completing the picture are excellent atmospheres that seem to come out of a Tim Burton film, and the excellent vocal performance of the talented and tenebrous Aldebran. Thanks also to imposing, refined and at the same time captivating sounds, this new work is pleasantly listenable, never predictable, let alone boring. The result of the maniacal care taken both in the writing and in the production is an album of excellent quality. If I really had to recommend songs, I would certainly name "Velvet", intriguing and by now one of the band's warhorses live; "Somebody To Love", a huge, phantasmagorical track marked by the inhuman scream of pain of the mad scientist Aldebran di Alteg, who manages to exorcise the trauma of losing his love; and "Before You Fade", a highly successful piece which, with its damnably eighties chorus, is catchy and even eminently danceable. A separate mention goes to "Pet Sematary", the masters Ramones' cover redone "Bloody Mary" style. To conclude, all that remains is to congratulate the band once more on a record that is a concentrate of pure energy, and that shows once again, if there were ever any need, that Bloody Mary are a splendid presence on our music scene.
